Doubleday Field

Doubleday Field had long been considered the birthplace of baseball. Named for Abner Doubleday in Cooperstown, New York, this stadium was built in 1920, and is a few short blocks from the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Historically, Doubleday Field has been home to the MLB Hall of Fame game (1943 to 2008) and the Cooperstown Hawkeyes of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (2010 to 2013). The Women’s National Baseball Team played Team Japan in the Cooperstown Women’s Baseball Classic in 2015.

Today, it is used annually for the Baseball Hall of Fame Classic (since 2009), the Cooperstown Classic Baseball Tournament, and amateur and collegiate baseball teams that rent the field through The Village office.
