In “Alibi Ike,” rookie sensation Francis “Ike” Farrell quickly rises to stardom as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, but his quirky habit of making excuses for everything tests the patience of both his manager, William Frawley, and his fiancée, Olivia de Havilland. Ike’s oddball antics both on and off the field turn him into a lovable, if exasperating, figure in this rollicking baseball comedy.

Just when it seems Ike’s winning streak and idiosyncrasies couldn’t possibly coexist any longer, a mix-up with gamblers threatens to derail his career and the Cubs’ shot at the pennant. As the stakes rise, Ike must confront his own shortcomings and decide what’s truly important, leading to a hilarious and unexpected climax.
